Ingrid d’Hooghe

Dr. Ingrid d’Hooghe, LAC Senior Fellow, is a researcher and policy advisor on China’s foreign policy and diplomacy, and Europe-China science and technology collaboration. She examines China’s strategic thinking and policy making in areas such as global governance, diplomatic outreach, soft power, connectivity, higher education, and S&T developments. Her geographical focus is on EU-China relations.

With a study background in sinology and over 30 years of experience in working with China, seven years of which she spent in Beijing and Shanghai, Ingrid is an experienced advisor to Dutch government organizations, the European Commission, and European research institutions. She also presents at top universities and government organizations in Europe and China, and at institutions such as the European Commission, European External Action Service and NATO. She publishes in academic and popular journals and appears regularly in the media.

Ingrid is also Senior Research Associate at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’, China analyst and consultant at China Relations, and China Expert at the European Commission. She is a member of the Dutch China Knowledge Network (CKN), and the China in Europe Research Network (CHERN).
