Vincent Chang
Dr Vincent K.L. Chang is a lawyer and a historian of modern China. He is a university lecturer of the history and international relations of modern China at the Leiden Institute for Area Studies (LIAS) and a senior fellow of the LeidenAsiaCentre.
Vincent’s research is concerned with China’s regional and global interactions, present and past, during times of international conflict and power shifts. He is the author of Forgotten Diplomacy: The Modern Remaking of Dutch–Chinese Relations, 1927–1950 and of several research publications on law, diplomacy, nationalism and EU–China relations.
Vincent previously practised law at the Amsterdam and Hong Kong offices of the leading global firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and taught Law and History courses at universities in China. He has advised government agencies, multinational companies and knowledge institutions on their international strategies and is a frequent speaker at international events.
