On 20 October 2020 at 13:00, the Delhi-based Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS) and the LeidenAsiaCentre co-organise a webinar to launch their recently published report ‘China’s Digital Silk Road – Strategic Implications for the EU and India’. Experts from India and Europe present and critically discuss with the audience this report, which deals with the opportunities and strategic and security challenges posed by the Digital Silk Road (DSR).
The report comprises part one of a collaborative research project on China’s DSR, which focuses on the challenges and opportunities that the DSR brings for the EU and India. Specifically, the project examines China’s expanding role in South Asia’s digital domain, particularly India, and in the EU, to identify:
1. The economic opportunities, and strategic and security challenges posed by the DSR and other Chinese digital investments
2. Convergences and divergences in digital priorities, concerns, and capabilities between the EU and India
3. Potential for EU-India digital cooperation
