Irene Hadiprayitno

Irene Hadiprayitno is a human rights scholar and political scientist, currently working as a University Lecturer at the Leiden Institute for Area Studies, Leiden University. Her research is a comprehensive exploration of the link between political ideologies, governance, and human rights in the context of plural legal orders. Specifically on Indonesia, she focuses on themes related to transitional justice, agricultural modernization, economic social and cultural rights, and the right to food. Currently, she is also working on a study on the dynamics of consensus and dissensus between state and non-state actors on human rights in ASEAN. The study aims to disentangle the consensus frame by focusing on contradictions that exist in Southeast Asian foreign policies, actors’ narratives, and their preferred networks and types of institutions.
