About Annelotte van Beek

Annelotte van Beek is an associate researcher at Leiden Asia Centre for the “China’s Role in Cyber Security” project. She has graduated from the Asian Studies Research Master at Leiden University, with a thesis that challenges prevalent narratives and taxonomies on data localisation practices in the PRC, Japan and ROK. Annelotte’s research often combines insights from (comparative) law, interpretive policy analysis, and Science and Technology Studies (STS), and aims to bridge gaps between different disciplines and stakeholders involved in cyber governance.
