Frank Pieke rejoins the LeidenAsiaCentre
As of August 1, 2021, Frank Pieke, who was the executive director of LeidenAsiaCentre between 2016 and 2018, will rejoin the Centre as Professor of Modern China Studies. His focus will primarily be on political developments in China as well as the global impact of China, especially in Europe and the Netherlands.
Pieke will be closely involved in the new government-funded Dutch China Knowledge Network (CNK) managed by LeidenAsiaCentre and Clingendael together with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His recent research on the China’s Influence and the Chinese Community in the Netherlands was the first project commissioned by CNK. Together with Dr Nana de Graaff of the Free University in Amsterdam he is currently working on a new CNK project on “Chinese-European business elites, enterprises and the Chinese Communist Party.
