The LeidenAsiaCentre (LAC) and the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), in Delhi, India, collaboratively run a project on China’s Digital Silk Road (DSR) and the implications for the EU and India.
AIM
The project focusses on the challenges and opportunities that the DSR brings for the EU and India. Specifically, the project examines China’s expanding role in South Asia’s digital domain, particularly India, and in the EU, to identify:
- The economic opportunities, and strategic and security challenges posed by the DSR and other Chinese digital investments;
- Convergences and divergences in digital priorities, concerns, and capabilities between the EU and India;
- Potential for EU-India digital cooperation.
REPORTS
So far, the project has resulted in the publication of two reports.
The first publication, “China’s Digital Silk Road – Strategic Implications for the EU and India”, deals with the opportunities and strategic and security challenges posed by the DSR.
The second publication “Acting on China’s Silk Road: Prospects for EU-India Cooperation” covers convergences and divergences in digital priorities and capabilities between India and the EU and India-EU digital cooperation.
