About Michael Sampson

Dr. Michael Sampson is Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Institute of Political Science. His research primarily explores the strategic and distributional consequences of international institutions with a focus on the role of rising powers such as China on global economic governance.

He received his DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford and is a former research fellow and Fulbright Scholar at Princeton University. He also holds an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford. Before coming to Leiden he was a college lecturer in international relations at University College and Hertford College, Oxford.
