Ebed Litaay

Ebed Litaay is an Indonesianist specialised in diplomacy, public administration, social organisations and engagement with Dutch and Indonesian stakeholders. He has worked for a.o. the Indonesian embassy in The Hague, the Global Indonesian Diaspora Network, as well as the Leiden municipal council.

About Ebed Litaay

S.J.G. (Ebed) Litaay is an Indonesianist with broad experience in diplomacy, public administration, social organisations and engagement with both Dutch and Indonesian governmental stakeholders. He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree in private Dutch Law from Leiden University.

Ebed worked as advisor, political analyst and researcher at the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague for more than eight years. He was also an editor for two legal publications of Wolters Kluwer and was elected in 2013 as one of the six Vice‐Presidents of the Indonesian Diaspora Network Global in which he represented Europe. In September 2016, he was part of the delegation of the Indonesian President’s special envoy to the Middle East and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Qatar.

From 2015 to 2017, he served as the second World President of the Indonesian Diaspora Network, representing eight million Indonesians abroad, living in 42 countries and active in 78 chapters.

He works as consultant on bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Indonesia. Among other projects, he was responsible for facilitating Bavaria’s entry into the Indonesian market and lobbied on behalf of the Dutch National Archives. In May 2019, Ebed was appointed as special staff for the Minister/Head of the Indonesian National Disaster Management (BNPB) during his visit to Europe.

Currently Ebed is advisor International affairs at Moluks Historisch Museum in The Hague. He also serves as the National Secretary for the Inter Country Committee Rotary International for the Netherlands and is a member of the Leiden municipal council, representing the political party Partij Sleutelstad.
