About An Pham

An Pham is part of the Leiden Asia Centre staff, contributing to the coordination and execution of the centre’s projects and activities. She holds an MSc in Communication Science from the University of Amsterdam and a BSc in International Communication and Media from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is also involved in research projects on Vietnamese transnational engagements via policy, strategic partnerships, education, and tourism.

At the Leiden Asia Centre, An is responsible for event and project coordination. Her interdisciplinary academic background addresses persuasive technology, surveillance and privacy in education and migration contexts. An’s graduate research examined international students’ decision-making autonomy as algorithmic consumers; her undergraduate work traced Vietnamese students’ culturally embedded experiences of privacy. She has written for the Research with International Students blog and previously co-published work at the Tangible, Embedded, and Embodied Interaction conference as part of her undergraduate research internship at the Interactive Technologies Institute.

Currently, An contributes to research on Vietnam-related projects with a focus on higher education policy (AI and technological integration), internationalisation (global partnerships and program diversification), EdTech (digital platforms and personalized learning), and accessible tourism (societal barriers, inclusive infrastructure, and services). She is also active as a behind-the-scenes member of Migrantour Utrecht and De Voorkamer.
