The Netherlands launches Knowledge Networks China and Russia/Eastern Europe

[:nl]The Dutch government is increasing knowledge in the Netherlands about China and Russia/Eastern Europe through the establishment of two knowledge networks. To this end, on May 26, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an agreement with Institute Clingendael, LeidenAsiaCentre and Raam op Rusland.

These knowledge networks are available to the entire government and aim to increase knowledge about China and Russia/Eastern Europe together with experts in order to develop more effective policy and to better advise civil society partners. The China Knowledge Network is co-developed by the LeidenAsiaCentre. Manager Lily Sprangers: “It is time to bundle and expand the available and diverse knowledge in the Netherlands about China. There are many opinions, but in-depth knowledge, that’s what it’s all about.”

The secretariats of the knowledge networks have been assigned to think tank Clingendael. They will function primarily as ‘knowledge brokers’, matching the supply and demand of knowledge.

The so-called China Knowledge Network (CKN) and the Russia/East Europe Knowledge Alliance (REKA) will go live next summer. Establishment meetings will then be organized.
