Nick Bontenbal is a staff member at  the LeidenAsiaCentre. He graduated from Leiden University with a Masters in International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University in 2022. He wrote his master thesis on the topic of CCP discourse on diplomacy. During his bachelors in China Studies, Nick also studied Mandarin at Peking University for a period of one year.

Nick previously interned at Datenna BV and the Clingendael Institute of Foreign Affairs.
